Vidal Estate Reserve Chardonnay is the premium tier of this historic Hawke's Bay winery's Chardonnay program — a reserve selection from the estate's finest vineyard parcels, crafted with greater winemaking investment and more extended barrel maturation than the standard Estate tier. The Reserve designation at Vidal Estate represents a wine of additional complexity, depth, and cellaring potential. Hawke's Bay Reserve Chardonnay draws on the Gimblett Gravels and other premium sub-regional fruit sources to produce a wine of genuine quality and regional significance. This Reserve Chardonnay receives barrel fermentation in French oak, extended lees ageing, and careful winemaker attention to produce a wine of excellent complexity and refined character. The wine presents a rich straw colour and a complex nose of yellow peach, nectarine, hazelnut, vanilla, and cream with underlying citrus tension. On the palate it is full-bodied with excellent weight and a long, nuanced, age-worthy finish.
