Tullamore D.E.W. is one of Ireland's most storied and beloved Irish whiskeys, with a heritage stretching back to 1829 when the Tullamore Distillery was first established in the heart of Ireland in County Offaly. The D.E.W. in the name pays tribute to Daniel E. Williams, the distillery's legendary manager who transformed the brand into an internationally recognised icon in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Tullamore D.E.W. is produced at a purpose-built distillery in Tullamore, returned to its home town in 2014 after decades of production elsewhere, and stands as Ireland's second best-selling Irish whiskey globally.
What sets Tullamore D.E.W. apart from most Irish whiskeys is its distinctive triple blend approach — a harmonious marriage of three different whiskey styles: single malt, single grain, and single pot still, all triple distilled and matured separately before being blended together. This combination of three traditions in a single bottle delivers a breadth of character and a complexity that single-style expressions cannot replicate, resulting in a whiskey that is simultaneously smooth, approachable, and subtly layered. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, it strikes a beautiful balance between sweetness, spice, and fruit that has earned it a loyal following across the world. Tasting Notes
Warm amber gold in the glass. The nose is gentle and inviting — fresh orchard fruit, light vanilla, malted barley, and a subtle hint of Sherry sweetness, with delicate spice notes drifting through. The palate is smooth, light-bodied, and well-balanced — apple, pear, honey, vanilla, and a soft malty sweetness, with a gentle spicy warmth building through the mid-palate. The finish is clean, medium in length, and pleasantly sweet with a lingering hint of toasted oak and light fruit.
Serves Best With
Excellent neat, over ice, or in a wide range of classic cocktails. A natural choice for a simple Whiskey and Ginger Ale with fresh lime, or a classic Irish Coffee. Also outstanding in a Tullamore Sour — shake 45ml Tullamore D.E.W. with fresh lemon juice, a dash of sugar syrup, and an egg white over ice, strain into a glass, and garnish with a dash of Angostura bitters. Pairs well with mild cheeses, smoked salmon, and lighter fare.
