Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila is produced by Olmeca Tequila in the Los Altos (Highlands) region of Jalisco, Mexico, at an altitude of approximately 2,000 metres above sea level. The brand was developed in collaboration with internationally recognised bartenders and has become a respected choice in the professional bar community for its adherence to traditional production methods. Altos Plata is produced from 100% Blue Weber Agave harvested from the Highlands of Jalisco, then crushed using a traditional tahona — a large volcanic stone wheel — rather than the mechanical shredding used by most industrial tequila producers. This tahona process extracts agave juice more gently, contributing a richer, more textured character to the finished spirit. On the nose, fresh agave, citrus and a distinctive herbal, earthy quality from the tahona processing are prominent. The palate is full and characterful, with roasted agave, citrus and a distinctive textured complexity. The finish is dry, medium-long and distinctively agave-driven. Bottled at 38% ABV.
