Maison Dudognon VSOP is produced by the Dudognon family in the Grande Champagne cru — the most prestigious of the six Cognac growing areas — in Cognac, France. The Dudognon family has been distilling Cognac for several generations at their small, independent estate. The production method is deliberately traditional: the spirit is double distilled over a wood fire in copper pot stills dating from 1901 and 1936, and aged for a minimum of four years in new Limousin oak casks. The VSOP is composed of 90% Ugni Blanc and 10% Montils grapes from the estate's own vineyards. On the nose, the Cognac is fresh and delicate, with notes of fresh sour cherry, apple and pear, intertwined with wildflower aromas and no overt alcoholic intensity. The palate is precise and elegant, with fresh fruit, light oak and a characteristic Grande Champagne finesse. The finish is clean and of medium length.
