Lark The Wolf Release Second Edition is the 2019 chapter of one of the most imaginative and celebrated annual collaborations in Australian craft drinks — the ongoing barrel exchange program between Lark Distillery in Tasmania and Victoria's Wolf of the Willows Brewing Co. Built on the enormous success of the sell-out First Edition, the Second Edition pushed the collaboration further and delivered one of the most layered and complex expressions in the series to date, limited to just 687 individually numbered bottles.

The process remains as creative as ever — 100 litre Lark whisky casks are carefully selected, decanted, and shipped across the Bass Strait to Wolf of the Willows in Victoria, where they are filled with the brewery's Imperial Johnny Smoked Porter and left to season for an average of nine months. The casks absorb the rich, roasted, smoky character of the porter before being emptied and returned to Tasmania, where they are refilled with Lark single malt whisky for finishing. The result is a whisky that sits at a genuinely unique intersection of craft beer and Tasmanian single malt — bottled at cask strength 54% ABV, non-chill filtered, and individually numbered, it is a collector's expression of the highest order and a deeply rewarding dram for those willing to explore the unexpected.

Tasting Notes
Auburn rose gold in the glass. The nose is immediately distinctive and deeply complex — fragrant cigar box, damp earth, smothered campfire smoke, chocolate orange, stewed fruits, raspberry, and a malty, musty depth that speaks to the porter cask influence. The palate is rich and multi-layered — apple custard, buttered pastry, juicy stone fruits, cherry ripe chocolate, and smoked meat, with the porter's roasted malt and earthy character weaving through every sip. The finish is long, earthy, and warming — campfire smoke, chocolate shortbread, Brazil nuts, dried fruit, tart cherries, espresso, and a lingering whisper of brine and cigar leaf that fades slowly and memorably.
