Klipdrift Premium is produced by KWV Wines & Spirits in the Stellenbosch wine-producing region of South Africa's Western Cape. South African brandy has a long production history dating from the 17th century, and the country's brandy regulations require a minimum three years maturation in small oak casks for pot-still-based expressions — among the most stringent standards in the world. Klipdrift Premium is produced from a blend of pot still spirit and wine spirit, aged in small oak casks for a minimum of three years. The brandy is noted for its smooth, approachable character. On the nose, aromas of cedar, tobacco, warm spice and apple with walnut undertones are characteristic. The palate is full-bodied, smooth and well-integrated, with a rounded sweetness derived from the oak maturation. The finish is of medium to long length, warm and defined by oak spice. Bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml format.
