Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition is the hop-forward sibling to the popular Caskmates Stout Edition, born from the same creative collaboration between Jameson's Midleton Distillery and Irish craft brewers that has made the Caskmates series one of the most innovative concepts in Irish whiskey. Where the Stout Edition leans into roasted, chocolatey character, the IPA Edition takes a brighter, more aromatic direction — finished in barrels previously used to age India Pale Ale, delivering a distinctly different but equally compelling result.
Jameson's triple-distilled blend of pot still and grain Irish whiskey is first matured in the usual ex-bourbon American oak barrels before being transferred into IPA-seasoned casks, which have absorbed the hoppy, citrusy, and floral aromatic compounds characteristic of the beer style. The result is a whiskey that bridges the worlds of craft beer and Irish whiskey in a refreshing and genuinely distinctive way, adding a bright, hoppy lift and subtle bitterness to Jameson's famously smooth and approachable base. Tasting Notes
Bright golden amber in the glass. The nose is fresh and aromatic — the familiar Jameson vanilla and orchard fruit sweetness now lifted by hoppy, floral, and citrusy notes from the IPA cask finish, with hints of toasted grain and a subtle herbal character. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, delivering green apple, lemon zest, honey, light toffee, and a gentle hop bitterness that adds a refreshing crispness and sets it apart from the standard Jameson profile. The finish is clean, moderately long, and pleasantly bitter-sweet, with citrus and malt lingering.
Serves Best With
Excellent neat or over ice, and a natural partner alongside a well-crafted IPA for an Irish whiskey and craft beer pairing. Also outstanding in a Whiskey Highball with chilled sparkling water and a twist of lemon, or in a simple serve with ginger beer and fresh lime.
