Hibiki 21 Year Old is one of the most prestigious and coveted expressions in the entire Suntory portfolio, and a benchmark blended whisky by any global standard. A masterpiece from the House of Suntory, it draws on exceptionally rare malt whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries alongside aged Chita grain whisky, all matured for a minimum of 21 years and harmonised by Suntory's master blenders with extraordinary precision.
The blend incorporates whiskies aged across multiple cask types including American white oak, Spanish oak Sherry casks, and the prized and exceptionally rare Mizunara Japanese oak — a wood so porous and difficult to work with that it requires decades of maturation to yield its finest qualities. The result is a whisky of remarkable depth, complexity, and elegance that reflects both the passage of time and the uncompromising philosophy of Japanese craftsmanship. Like all expressions in the Hibiki range, it is presented in the iconic 24-faceted bottle representing the 24 seasons of the traditional Japanese calendar.

Tasting Notes
Deep amber with rich mahogany hues. The nose is extraordinarily complex and layered — dried rose petals, Mizunara incense, dark chocolate, ripe fig, and candied orange peel, underpinned by deep oak, sandalwood, and a whisper of smoke. The palate is full-bodied, rich, and silky — waves of dark honey, stewed stone fruit, leather, clove, and Sherry-soaked raisins, with the signature Mizunara character adding an almost ethereal, incense-like dimension. The finish is exceptionally long, warm, and deeply satisfying, fading slowly through notes of dark spice, aged oak, and sweet dried fruit.
Serves Best With
Best appreciated neat in a tulip glass, with nothing added — this is a whisky that demands and rewards full attention. A single drop of still water may be added to open the nose further. Pairs beautifully with aged dark chocolate, dried fig, or a fine charcuterie board. Not recommended for mixing.
