Hibiki 17 Year Old is a highly acclaimed and now increasingly rare expression from the House of Suntory, representing one of the finest achievements in Japanese blended whisky. Crafted from malt whiskies sourced from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries alongside aged Chita grain whisky, all matured for a minimum of 17 years, it sits between the elegant accessibility of Hibiki Harmony and the extraordinary opulence of the 21 Year Old — occupying a sweet spot of complexity and refinement that has earned it a devoted global following.

The blend draws on multiple cask types including American white oak, Spanish Sherry casks, and Mizunara Japanese oak, the latter imparting the signature incense and sandalwood qualities that are uniquely characteristic of the Hibiki range. Suntory made the difficult decision to discontinue Hibiki 17 Year Old in 2017 due to dwindling aged stock reserves, making remaining bottles increasingly collectible and sought after. Presented in the iconic 24-faceted bottle of the Hibiki range, it is a whisky that is as beautiful to display as it is to drink.

Tasting Notes
Rich amber gold in the glass. The nose is elegant and inviting — honeyed stone fruit, rose, vanilla, and toasted oak, with delicate hints of Mizunara incense and dried citrus peel developing in the background. The palate is smooth and well-rounded, delivering apricot jam, dark toffee, Sherry-soaked fruit, gentle spice, and a subtle smokiness. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of sandalwood, sweet oak, and dark chocolate.

Serves Best With
Best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass to fully appreciate its complexity and rarity. A single drop of still water can help open the nose. Pairs well with aged dark chocolate, soft cheeses, dried fruit, or a refined charcuterie board. Given its scarcity, mixing is not recommended.
