The whiskey is first matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, which establish the classic Irish whiskey backbone of vanilla, honey, and soft fruit. It is then transferred into Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts for a secondary finishing period, which layers on additional sweetness, dried fruit, and warm spice, adding a depth and roundness that sets it apart from single-cask expressions.
