Calvados Original is an apple brandy from the Calvados appellation of Normandy, France. Calvados is produced by fermenting locally grown apples into cider before distilling the fermented juice in traditional Charentais or column stills and ageing the spirit in oak casks. The Calvados appellation requires a minimum of two years ageing in oak barrels. This Calvados Original expression is produced at 40% ABV from traditional Normandy apple varieties, which provide the characteristic fruity and aromatic profile. On the nose, the spirit presents aromas of fresh and baked apple, pear and a delicate hint of oak vanilla. The palate is balanced, with crisp apple fruit, light caramel and soft spice. The finish is clean and of moderate length, with an apple-driven character that is distinctly Norman in style.
