Absolut Citron is a Swedish lemon-flavoured vodka built on Absolut's classic spirit — distilled from winter wheat and pristine water, and produced in and around the village of Åhus in southern Sweden, the single source of every drop of Absolut. Launched in 1988, it quickly became Absolut's best-selling flavoured vodka and is famously credited as the base that inspired the modern Cosmopolitan.
On the nose it's bright and inviting, with fresh lemon zest and a note of lemon peel. The palate is smooth and mellow, carrying fresh, fruity citrus character of lemon with a touch of lime, balanced rather than sharp, leading into a long, clean, refreshing finish. Like the rest of the Absolut range, it's made exclusively from natural ingredients with no added sugar, which keeps it crisp and easy to mix.
Served with: Excellent simply over ice, or in a vodka soda with a wedge of lemon. As a cocktail base it's a natural for the Cosmopolitan — combine with triple sec, cranberry juice and a squeeze of fresh lime — or a classic Lemon Drop. Equally at home topped with lemonade for an easy long drink.
