Petrus Aged Pale Ale is a Belgian artisan beer representing one of the world's most distinctive and celebrated beer styles — brewed using the ancient tradition of spontaneous fermentation, where wild yeasts and bacteria naturally present in the Belgian Senne Valley or Flanders region are responsible for fermentation rather than cultivated yeast strains. These wild ales and sour beers are aged in oak barrels for one to three years, developing their characteristic complex, tart and funky flavour profiles. Geuze is blended from lambics of different ages to create a naturally carbonated, complex and refined expression, while Flemish red ales like Rodenbach develop their deep, vinous and sour character through lactic acid fermentation and oak maturation. The nose is complex with sour cherry, oak, leather and earthy notes, while the palate is tart, complex and long-finishing. Serve at 10-12 degrees Celsius in a tulip or wine glass.
