Old Monk Supreme XXX is the premium expression from Mohan Meakin's iconic Old Monk stable, produced at their distillery in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Where the standard Old Monk is aged a minimum of seven years, the Supreme carries approximately 12 years of oak maturation — a "Very Old Vatted" designation reflecting the careful selection and blending of mature rum stocks to achieve exceptional depth and consistency.
As you climb the Old Monk range, the reliance on molasses sweetness diminishes and the influence of extended oak ageing becomes increasingly prominent. The Supreme sits at the top of that progression, retaining the smooth, approachable character Old Monk is renowned for while delivering noticeably greater sophistication. Packaged in the brand's distinctive monk-shaped bottle, it is as much a collector's piece as it is a serious rum.
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in the glass. The nose opens with dark brown sugar, maple, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and a touch of nutmeg. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, with molasses sweetness giving way to dry peppery wood spice, cocoa, dark chocolate, cola, and black tea. The finish is long and warming, with hints of licorice, walnut, and a lingering glow of cinnamon and wood spice.
Serves Best With
Best appreciated neat or over a single large ice cube to fully enjoy the complexity earned through extended ageing. Also excellent in a premium rum and cola with fresh lime, or alongside dark chocolate, aged cheese, or richly spiced Indian cuisine.
